Accessibility

Accessibility and customer service policy.

Adams Bros Construction Ltd. serves residents, seasonal property owners, contractors and businesses in Parry Sound and the surrounding area. We want people with disabilities to be able to request a quote, arrange a site visit, visit our customer locations, order materials or rentals, and use our services in a way that respects their dignity, independence and equal opportunity. This policy explains how we work to identify, remove and prevent barriers in customer service.

Request accessibility help

If you need an accommodation or an accessible format, call (705) 746-2962 or email info@adamsbros.ca. Tell us what you need and we will work with you to arrange a suitable way to serve you.

Service at our locations and on projects

Our office and aggregate pickup location is at 116 William St. in Parry Sound. A ramp has been installed at the office front entrance. Our scrap yard is at 80 North Rd. in McDougall. Aggregate pickup, scrap drop-off and active work sites may have moving vehicles, equipment and uneven ground. If you need help planning a visit, pickup, drop-off or site meeting, please contact us in advance so we can discuss a safe and practical arrangement.

We can discuss estimates, site visits, deliveries and other service arrangements by phone or email when that is more accessible. For waste and event rentals, ask us about our wheelchair accessible portable toilet option with a ramp when you make your request.

Communication and assistive devices

We will communicate with you in a way that takes your disability and preferred method into account. Our staff will speak directly with you, allow time for a response and work with you if a different way of sharing information is needed. You may use your personal assistive device in customer areas. If a particular site condition creates a safety concern, we will discuss another way for you to receive the service.

Service animals and support persons

Service animals are welcome in the parts of our premises that are open to the public, unless another law excludes the animal. If an animal is excluded by law, we will explain the reason and work with you to provide access to our goods or services another way.

You may be accompanied by a support person in areas open to the public, and we will not prevent you from accessing that person. We will ask your permission before discussing confidential information in the support person’s presence. We will consult with you before requiring a support person for health or safety, and do so only if there is no other reasonable way to protect those on the premises.

Temporary disruptions

If a service or facility that customers with disabilities rely on is temporarily unavailable, we will give notice as soon as practical. The notice will describe the reason, expected duration when known, and available alternatives. We will post it at the affected location and, when useful, through another channel such as our website or direct contact.

Accessible information and online service

On request, we will provide information about our services and this policy in an accessible format or with a communication support, in consultation with you, in a timely manner and at no extra charge. If you have difficulty using a page, form or document on adamsbros.ca, call or email us. We will provide the information or help you make the request another way and use the report to guide improvements to our website and documents.

Employment and staff training

We offer accommodation during recruitment, interviews, assessments and employment. Applicants who need an accommodation to use our online application or take part in hiring can contact us by phone or email.

We train employees and other people who provide services on our behalf on accessible customer service, including communication, assistive devices, service animals, support persons and what to do when someone has difficulty accessing our services. We update training when our practices change.

Feedback and policy requests

We welcome feedback about accessibility at our office, aggregate pickup area, scrap yard, on our website and when arranging work at your property. You can use the contact form on our website, call (705) 746-2962, email info@adamsbros.ca, or write to Adams Bros Construction Ltd., 116 William St., Parry Sound, ON P2A 1V8. If those methods do not work for you, tell us and we will arrange another way to receive your feedback.

We will review feedback, respond in a way that takes your communication needs into account, and use what we learn to improve our service. You can request a copy of this policy in an accessible format through the same contacts.

How we improve accessibility

We will review barriers raised by customers, employees and applicants, and update our practices as our services and locations change. Our priorities include clearer ways to arrange safe customer visits and material pickup or drop-off, accessible contact and job application processes, accessible service information, and training for the people who serve our customers. We will review this policy as needed when our operations or Ontario accessibility requirements change.

This policy is guided by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
